In the 1871 census as Esther Croucher aged 8, born in Chute (sic- in the index, Churt on the original), and living with her parents (John and Charlotte), three brothers (Charles, James and William) and three sisters (Ann, Caroline and Maria) at Frensham Pond, Churt, Surrey (Pond Cottage).
In the 1881 Census as Esther Croucher aged 19 living at Churt House, Frensham, single and a housemaid living with employed by Henry Crompton (aged 44, born nr Liverpool, Lancashire, a Clerk of Assize on the North Wales Circuit and who owned her parents house), his wife (Lucy H aged 32 and born in London, Middlesex, two sons (David H aged 7 and Paul aged 9, both born in London), a niece (Mary aged 9 and born in London), a governess (Valerie Kusutzenana aged 28, born in Stadt Alsace, France and single) and a cook (Fanny Nase aged 28, born in Stottesdon, Shropshire, and single) were also living there. at Churt House, Churt, Frensham, Surrey.
In the 1891 census as Esther Croucher, aged 26, born in Trentham (sic - in the index, Frensham on the original), Surrey, single, and a domestic housemaid living with Helen E Wanhill (aged 44, born in Poole, Dorset, single and living on her own means - she is a visitor, there is no head of household), two neices (Eugenie B Buck aged 33 and born in Lutterworth, Leicestershire, and Helen E Wanhill aged 31, born in Foremark, Derbyshire, both and single and no stated enmployment), and a cook (Annie M Turtle aged 32, born in Chippenham, Wiltshire and single) at Churchwood, Norwood St Mary, London.

Ruth Croucher (her neice) said she married in America and died about 1920 in Boston. She may have married Neil McNamara although this may have been her sister Emily. I cannot find any entry for her in the UK 1901 census or 1900-1930 USA censuses, nor in the UK Register of Marriages.
Esther Croucher was my grandaunt.
