Christening of Miriam Deadman in the IGI on 3 March 1850 in Frensham, Surrey, parents Charles and Harriett Deadman. Note she was christened Miriam which was the name she used, but the birth was registered as Marian.

In the 1851 census as Meriams (sic on the original) Deadman, aged 1, born in Seakenfield (sic - in the index, Dockenfield on the original), Hampshire and son (sic - on the original) of Charles Slerdman and Harriett Deadman, and living with them, and her brother (Charles), three sisters (Caroline, Emily (given as a wife of Charles in the index) and Mariea), a neice (Darars Dendrinos) and a lodger (Bedrich Hamanond aged 40, born in Emchath, Hampshire, unmarried and employed as an agricultural labourer) at Dockenfield Manor Farm, Dockenfield Surrey.

In the 1861 census as William (sic - in the index, Miriam on the original) Deadman aged 11, born in Dockenfield, and living with her parents (Charles and Harriet), brother (Charles), two sisters (Caroline and Mary), niece (Ann) and a lodger (James Deadman aged 14, born in Dockenfield and employed as a carter) at Morehouse (Moorhouse), Headley, Hampshire (note this is only a mile south of Dockenfield Manor Farm).

In the 1871 census as Miriam Deadman aged 23, born in Surrey, unmarried, employed as a palourmaid and living with Josiah Roberts aged 59, born in Manchester, of no profession, and living with his wife (Helen A M aged 43 and born in Worcestershire), two sons (Albert T aged 13 and Edmund A R aged 11 both born in Gloucestershire), daughter (Mary F aged 6 and born in St. Pancras), a cook (Maria Deadman, Miriams sister), and another servant (Ann Shearing, aged 18 and born in Hampshire) at 43 Guilford Street, Gray, St Pancras London

In the 1881 census as Miriam Deadman aged 31, born in Dockenfield, unmarried, employed as a dressmaker, and living with her parents (Charles and Harriett) and brother (Charles) at Whitmoor, Churt, Frensham.

Their daughter was born in Newdigate, Surrey.

In the 1891 census as Miriam Holden aged 41, born in Frensham, and living with her husband (James) and daughter (Miriam) at 18 Waverley Estate, The Bourne, Farnham, Surrey.

J Musty has an entry in Ancestry Public Member Trees for Maria Deadman born on 28 January 1844 in Dockenfield, Surrey, her marriage to Abraham Shrubb on 23 August 1876 in Churt, the three sons, 1881 census and her death in January 1882 in Farnham and similar information for Maria Dreadman. SVM Rosie has an entry with similar information adding her parents as Charles Deadman and Harriet Scrub and the 1851-1871 census entries.

Dockenfield, formerly monastic land belonging to Waverley Abbey, came into the parish of Frensham immediately after the Reformation, but was in Hampshire until 1895.

Relationship

Miriam Deadman was my first cousin three times removed.
