In the 1851 census as Charles Deadman aged 3, born in Seakenfield (sic - in the index, Dockenfield on the original), Hampshire and living with his parents (Charles Slerdman and Harriett Deadman), and his four sisters (Emily (given as a wife of Charles in the index), Mariea and Meriams), a neice (Darars Dendrinos) and a lodger (Bedrich Hamanond aged 40, born in Emchath, Hampshire, unmarried and employed as an agricultural labourer) at Dockenfield Manor Farm, Dockenfield, Surrey.

In the 1861 census as Charles Deadman aged 13, born in Dockenfield, Hampshire, and living with his parents (Charles and Harriet), three sisters (Caroline, Mary and William (sic - Miriam)), niece (Ann) and a lodger (James Deadman aged 14, born in Dockenfield and employed as a carter) at Morehouse (Moorhouse), Headley, Hampshire (note this is only a mile south of Dockenfield Manor Farm).

In the 1871 census as Charles Deadman, aged 23, born in Brackenfield (sic - in the index, Dockenfield on the original), Surrey, single, employed as a boot and shoe maker, and living with his parents (Charles and Harriett), and two lodgers (James Aldred aged 16 and George Coombs aged 13, both born in Headley and emloyed as labourers) at Stream, Headley, Hampshire.

In the 1881 census as Charles Deadman aged 33, born in Dockenfield, Hampshire, single, employed as a bootmaker, and living with his parents (Charles and Harriett) and sister (Miriam) at Whitmore, Churt, Frensham.

In the 1901 census as Charles Deadman aged 53, born in Dockenfield, and living with his wife (Emily), three daughters (Edith, Emline and Lena), and a boarder (William Tilbury aged 38, born in Headley, Hampshire, single and employed as a cattleman on farm) in Whitmoor Bottom, Churt, Frensham , Surrey.

Dockenfield, formerly monastic land belonging to Waverley Abbey, came into the parish of Frensham immediately after the Reformation, but was in Hampshire until 1895.
