Christening entry in IGI. The marriage to a Bishop, 5 Children and death came from my father's records. A son came to live with James Croucher for a time.
In 1871 census aged 4 (as Caroline Croucher), born in Chute (sic) in index, Churt in original, and living with her parents, three sisters and three brothers at Frensham Pond.
In 1881 census aged 15, born in Chirt (sic) and employed as a domestic servant by William H Aldridge (aged 64, born in London and a clerk at the General Post Office) and his wife Mary (aged 45 and born in Braintree, Esses), and living with them, their granddaughter Marian L Aldridge (aged 7 and born in Peckham), a visitor Joseph Russell (aged 62, born in Southwark, Surrey and employed as a music instrument dealer) and a lodger Helen A Edwards (aged 19, born in Chard, Somerset and employed as an assistant florist) at 41 Church Street, Hove, Sussex.
In 1891 census (spelt Carrie) aged 23, born in Churt, single, unemployed and living with her parents, and two brothers at an unspecified address between Swiss Cottage and Hooks Cottage, Churt.
There is an entry in FreeBMD for a Caroline Croucher marrying a Robert David Bishop in Croyden in April - June 1898 (when Caroline would have been 31).
I cannot find any entry in the 1901 census for a Caroline born in Churt and married to a Bishop, or for any Caroline Bishop and Robert Bishop aged 30 - 40 living at the same address, or any Bishop born in Churt, or Clara Bishop. However there is an entry for Clarrie Bishop aged 33 born in Taversham, Surrey (but there is no such place - should it be Frensham?), and living with her husband, son and daughter at 30 Cookham Buildings, Bethnal Green, London. I assume this is the correct entry as I've eliminated all others.
I am her grandnephew and third cousin twice removed.
