In the 1891 census as John Cole aged 3, born in Frensham, Surrey, and living with his widowed grandfather (Robert Store), widowed mother (Mary J Cole) and unmarried aunt (Emily Store) in two rooms at 4 Swan Place, Trinity, West Newington, London. This is in the area of Borough High Street (A3) and Great Dover Strret (A2) where there are Swan Street, Trinity Street and Cole Street.
In the 1901 census as John Cole aged 13, born in Frensham, Surrey, employed as an errand boy, and boarding together with his two brothers (George and Sam) with his step-father (Abraham Shrubb), mother (Mary J), step-sister (Kate Shrubb) and half-sister (Beatrice Shrubb) in Shortheath, Wrecclesham, Frensham, Surrey. However I can find no registration of marriage for his mother to Abraham Shrubb.

John Robert Cole was the son of Mary Jane Store, wife of Abraham Shrubb, my second cousin twice removed.
