Christening of John Bedford in the IGI on 14 May 1640 in Thursley, Surrey, father John Bedford. There is also an entry in West Surrey Family History Society Thursley Baptisms No. 283 for John Bedford, son of John on 14 May 1641. Note there is one year's difference.
There is an entry for the marriage of John Bedford and Mary Mitchener in the IGI on 10 September 1676 in Farnham, Surrey. However the same information is in the West Surrey Family History Society West Surrey Marriages adding it was by license, and is immediately preceeded by a Marriage License Allegation for John Bedford of St Saviours, Southwark and Mary Michenor dated 2 September 1676. (Marriage License Allegations were sworn by one of the parties, usually the groom, to the to the effect that there was no impediment to the marriage and where the marriage would take place. The Archbishop of Canterbury, through his Vicar-General, issued common licences for couples to marry in any parish church or chapelry in the province of Canterbury which dispensed with the calling of banns on three successive Sundays. Thus I am not convinced that this is the correct marriage although I cannot find any other.)
All the children were christened in Thursley but only the father's name is given.
Entry 718 in the West Surrey Family History Society Thursley Burials states on 24 March 1713 John Bedford was on the jury for the inquest into the death of Danell Coleman a child that was crushed by a wheel (of a wagon?) in Bramshot and was brought to Thursley where he died.
John Bedford was my sixth great grandfather.
