In the 1901 census as William Baker aged 4, born in London, and living with his parents (George and Margaret), two brothers (Arthur and Harry), and two sisters (Kate and Nellie) in three rooms at 125 Peel Street, St George Campden Hill, Kensington, London.

In the 1911 census as William Frederick Baker aged 14 and living in an institution in Paddington, London.

There are badly damaged and almost illegible records in Ancestry British Army WWI Service Records, 1914-1920 for William Frederick Baker of 122 Campden Houses, Peel St Kensington, father George Baker. He was 19 at enlistment on 29 January 1916, entrered the army reserve on 30 January 1916, was mobilised on 20 March 1916 as a driver 288502 in the Army Service Corps Motor Transport. His height was 5 ft 8 inches and chest 35 inches + 2 inches. He was discharged on 21 January 1919 as no longer fit for war service. His address was 8 Hogarth Road.
