In the 1841 census as Mary Baker aged 30, not born in Surrey and living with John Chutes aged 60 and an agricultural labourer, Martha Chutes aged 50 (his wife?), George Chutes aged 25 and John Chutes aged 15, both agricultural labourers (sons?) and Eliza Chutes (daughter?), (all born in Surrey and spelt Chuter on the original), in Bear Lane, Farnham, Surrey.

In the 1851 census as Mary Baker aged 38, born in Hanley (sic - in the index, Headley on the original), Hampshire, single and a farmer's daughter, and visiting James Woodhouse (aged 38, born in Headley, Hampshire and a machist employing 12 men and 5 boys), his wife (Mary aged 32, born in Headley, Hampshire), daughter (Mary Jane aged 13 and born in Kingsley, Hampshire), a servant (Mary Ann Sundman aged 14 and born in Lilbourne, Hampshire) and an assistant (Samuel Pamplin aged 28, born in Burthea, Hampshire, single and a machinist) at Park Kennels?, Kingsley, Hampshire.

In the 1861 census as Marry (sic - in the index) Baker aged 47, born in Headley, Hampshire, single, and living with her two brothers (Henry and William), nephew (Albert), and two servants (Mark Barrnett aged 18 and Agmes Hunt aged 19, both born in Headley, Hampshire) in Headley, Hampshire.

In the 1871 census as Mary Rather (sic - in the index, Baker on the original) aged 50, born in Headley, Hampshire, single, and living with her brother (William Rather), sister (Sarah Hatch aged 45, born in Headley and single - so not her sister), a servant (Sarah Brooks aged 14 and born in Farnham, Surrey) and a farm servant (George Loveland aged 50, born in Tetford (Tilford on the original), Surrey and single) at Simmonstone, Wishanger, Headley, Hampshire.
