Notes

The Christening of Maria Baker is in the IGI on 07 April 1857, giving only her mother's name Eliz Baker. Her birth is also in FreeBMD as Maria Baker in April-June 1857 in the Farnham District (2a 70).

In the 1861 census as Maria Croucher aged 4, born in Frensham, and living with her parents, and two (half) brothers (James and William) at Barford, Headley, Hampshire. I assume this was Barford Lower Mill because my father states his father was born there - it is just inside Headley.

In the 1871 census as Maria Croucher aged 14, born in Chute (sic) in index, Churt in original, employed as a farm labourer, and living with her father (she is given as his daughter? with the question mark), mother (whose name is given as Charlotte), three (half) brothers (Charles, James and William) and three (half) sisters (Ann, Caroline, and Esther) at Frensham Pond, Frensham.

The marriage of Maria Baker and William Deadman is in FreeBMD in October-December 1877 in the Farnham District (2a 153).

In the 1881 census census as Maria Deadman aged 23, born in Churt, and living with her husband and two daughters (Amelia and Bessie) at Batts Corner, Dockenfield, Hampshire.

In the 1891 census census as Maria Deadman aged 34, born in Churt and living with her husband and two daughters (Amelia and Bessie J) in Dockingfield.

Death of Maria Deadman in FreeBMD in April-June 1893 aged 36 in the Farnham District (2a 85).

She was Mariah Croucher, daughter of John Croucher and Elizabeth Baker, and married William Baker and had two children born about 1890 according to my father's records. I am not sure who her father was (she was born two years before the marriage), but she kept the name Baker and never changed to Croucher.

Dockenfield was part of Frensham Parish, but was in Hampshire, not Surrey.

Relationship

I am her half grandnephew.
