In the 1871 census as Harry J Baker aged 2, born in Aldershot, Hampshire, and living with his parents (Henry and Priscilla), and (half)sister (Alice Poutta) at Bailiffs Cottage, Aldershot Park, Aldershot, Hampshire.

The family moved to Frensham soon after the census from the birth of his sister in October-December 1871.

In the 1881 census as Harry J Baker aged 19 in the index, 12 on the original, born in Aldershot, Hampshire, and living with his parents (Henry and Priscilla A), sister (Helen M), half-sister (Kate Poulton) , and a visitor (Mary Nash aged 75, born in London, Middlesex, widowed and an annuitant) at Elm Cottage, Frensham, Surrey.

His father died in 1887.

In the 1891 census as Harry S (sic) Baker aged 22, born in Aldershot Place, Hampshire, single, an assistant surveyor on the highway board, and living with his widowed mother (Priscilla), (half)sister (Kate Baker in the index, Poulton on the original), at Elm Cottage, Frensham, Surrey.

In the 1911 census as Harry John Baker aged 41 and living with Priscilla (mother?) and Mary Helen (sister?) in Farnham, Surrey.

His mother died in Farnham in 1912.

Death of Harry J Baker in FreeBMD in January-March 1940 aged 70 in Surrey SW (2a 1298).

Bakers of Headley states Henry’s first child, Harry John, was born in about 1862. In 1881 he was living with his family at Elan Cottage in Frensham. He married Kate Poulton (born in 1871), and is remembered as the author of “Frensham: Then & Now”. The birth date is take from the IGI index of the 1881 census - the original has 12. The marriage to Kate Poulton is also taken from this index - it is wrong as she was his half sister, never married and died in 1943. He was a co-author of Frensham Then and Now 1938, 2nd Ed 1948, the other being H C Minchin MA.

Susan F Belsey has an entry for Harry John Baker, son of Henry and Priscilla Ann Baker, born about 1870, his marriage to Kate Poulton, and his death on 27 March 1940.
