Entry in the West Surrey Family History Society Frensham Baptisms for Edward Baker on 13 December 1805 aged 3 months, son of John and Sarah Baker.
Marriage of Edward Baker and Ester Hall in the IGI on 11 May 1833 in Frensham, Surrey. The marriage is also in West Surrey Family History Society Surrey Marriages on 11 May 1833 at Frensham by banns, Edward Baker being of the parish, and Esther of Headley, Hampshire.
In the 1841 census as Edward Baker, aged 30 (rounded down to a multiple of 5), born in Surrey, employed as an agricultural labourer and living with Esther (wife?), Alfred, Edwin and Elizabeth (children?) in Lower Churt (next property is in Cross Water), Farnham, Surrey.
In the 1851 census as Edward Baker aged 45, born in Frensham, employed as an agricultural labourer, and living with his wife (Esther), two sons (Andrew and Albert - there is confusion with names and ages, it should be Alfred and Andrew), and two daughters (Esther who should be Elizabeth and Ann) living in Frensham.
In the 1861 census as Edward Baker aged 56, born in Frensham, widowed, employed as an agricultural labourer, and living with his two sons (Andrew and Alfred) in Churt, Frensham.
In the 1871 census as Edward Baker aged 65, born in Churton (sic), widowed, employed as a labourer, and living with his son (Alfred) in Red Hearn, Churt, Frensham.
In the 1881 census as Edward Baker aged 75, born in Churt, widowed, employed as an agricultural labourer, and living with his son (Alfred) at Red Herne, Churt, Frensham.
Death in FreeBMD in April-June 1884 aged 78 in Farnham (2a 78). Copy made on 16 December 2004 of the Entry of Death Number 146 in 1884 in Farnham in the counties of Surrey and Southampton gives the death of Edward Baker on 17 April 1884 at Churt, Frensham aged 78 years and employed as a labourer. The informant was his son-in-law J Croucher who was present at his death and the death was registered on 19 April 1884.
There is an entry in Bakers of Headley stating John’s third child by his second marriage, Edward, was born in Frensham on 31 October 1805 and baptized there on 13 December. On 11 May 1833 he married Esther Hall, by whom he had six children: Elizabeth born in 1835, Edwin in 1836, Alfred in 1838, Anne in 1842, Richard in 1844 and Andrew in 1848. In 1881 Edward was widowed and living with his son Alfred at Red Herne, Frensham, working as an “agricultural labourer”.
All the children were christened in Frensham.
Edward Baker was my second great grandfather.
