In the 1881 census as Reginald Gilbert Baker, aged 2, born in Islington, London, and living with his parents (Robert and Elizabeth Ann), and sister (Millicent Mary) at 5 Devonshire Street, Islington St Mary, London.
In the 1891 census as Reginald Gilbert Baker aged 12, born in Islington, London and living with his parents (Robert and Elizabeth Ann), sister (Millicent Mary) and a servant (Edith Johnson aged 22, single and born in North Meols, Lancashire) at 20 St James Street, North Meols, Lancashire (on A565 NE of Southport).
His sister was born at 129 Sussex Road, Southport, Lancashire in 1895.
I cannot find him in the 1901 census - believed to be in South Africa in the Boer War.
I cannot find in entries in either the English or Alberta 1911 censuses.
There is as an entry in Ancestry All Canada, Soldiers of the First World War, 1914-1918 for Reginald Gilbert Baker born on 8 July 1878 in London, father Robert Baker. His next of kin lived in Ben Rhydding,Yorkshire. He was a trapper and a widower, and had served in the S African Irregular Forces for 8 7 years. He joined 50th Battn Canadian Over-seas Expeditionary Force. Dated 4 October 1915 in Calgary. He was 36 Years 11 months old, 5 ft 11 ins, fair complexion, dark blue eyes and light hair, and a scar - hernia.
There is an entry in The Canadian Great War Project for Reginald Gilbert Baker Private 435774 in the 50th Battalion, Canadian Infantry. He was born on 11 July 1878 in Ben Rhydding, Leeds, Yorks, England, enlisted on 4 October 1915 in Calgary, Alberta, and had prior military experience. It was likely he survived the war.
There is also an entry in Nominal Rolls 50th Battalion 1914-1915 3rd, 12th and 13th Regiments Canadian Mounted Rifles 1915-1916 Canadian Expeditionary Force which has similar information adding his previous experience was in S.A.

He was married but not accompanied by his wife. He had lived in Canada at Baries Camp, Calgary, Alberta and first arrived in Canada in Halifax in1906 and departed in 1915. He was going to settle in Canada in Ottawa working in agriculture, he had paid for his passage and had $28. His nearest relative in Enland was Sheila Francis Baker, his daughter who lived at 24 Water Street, Rhyl.

Entry in Ancestry UK, Incoming Passenger Lists, 1878-1960 for Reginald G Baker aged 60 arrived in Liverpool on 1 January 1938 on the Montrose from St John, New Brunswick, Canada. He was retired, accompanied by his wife Annie and were to stay c/o Mr J Morison 73 Dunard Street, Glasgow.
Baker's of Headley states Robert’s first child, Reginald Gilbert, was born on 7 November 1878. In 1881 the census records him with his family at 5 Devonshire Road, Islington. He married twice: Constance Saunders and Frances Harrison. He served in the army in both the Boer War and the First World War – in which he served apparently in the ‘Canadian Force’.
Susan F Belsey has an entry for Reginald Gilbert Baker born on 7 November 1878, son of Robert Baker and Elizabeth Ann Gilbert and his marriages to Constance Saunders and Francis Harrison. In January 1900 he was serving in the Boer War and in 1915 in the Canadian Force.
Joyce Whitham has an entry in Ancestry Public Member Trees for Reginald Gilbert Baker born in 1879 in Islington, London, parents Robert and Elizabeth Ann Baker. Another entry has similar information but does not name his parents. Amanda Moffat has a confusing entry giving his birth in Hampshire in 1879, mother Alice Baker, but the quoted census entries are for a Reginald Baker born in Crondall in 1889. She gives his wife as Frances Mitchel Anderson with a son Harold Keith and unnamed daughter, he had 2 sisters, but 'sent/went' to Canada and joined Canadian Regiment. Returned to Hampshire at the start of the war and was stationed at Bramshott Camp where he met Frances and married. Reginald was 37. Sergeant Major in Canadian Regiment, served in Somme and The Dardanelles (but returned injured - photo of hospital ward), and was stationed at Kinmel Camp, Wales in 1918 where he was discharged. He returned to Canada in 1921 and died in Yorkshire in 1952. I cannot find an entry for his death or a will, but he may have died in Scotland.
Reginald Gilbert Baker was my third cousin twice removed.
