Notes

Christening of Ann Croucher in the IGI on 4 May 1817 at Frensham, Surrey, parents Charles Croucher and Harriet. The same information is in the West Surrey Family History Society Frensham Baptisms.

Marriage of Ann Croucher and Thomas Luff in the IGI on 26 November 1839 at Frensham, Surrey. There is an entry in the Register of Marriages for Ann Croucher in October-December 1839 in Farnham (4 113).

In the 1841 census as Ann Luff aged 20 (rounded down to a multiple of 5), born in Surrey and living with Thomas (husband?) and Mary (daughter?) in Lower Churt, Farnham at the same address as Charles Croucher (father?), Charlotte Croucher (stepmother?), Charles, Mary and Elizabeth Croucher (brother and sisters?).

I cannot find an entry in the Ancestry 1851 Census but in the West Surrey Family History Society West Surrey 1851 census as Ann Luff aged 33, born in Frensham and living with her husband (Thomas), three sons (Charles, James and Thomas) and three daughters (Ann, Mary and Sarah) at Elstead, Surrey.

In the 1861 census as Ann Luff aged 43, born in Chart (sic), Frensham, Surrey and living with her husband (Thomas), five sons (Charles, Edwin, Henry, James and Thomas) and two daughters (Kate and Sarah) at Pitch Place, Elstead. This was shared with George May aged 44, born in Elstead, a widower and employed as a labourer, and Mary Voller aged 40, born in Witley, unmarried and employed as a housekeeper.

In the 1871 census as Ann Luff aged 53, born in Frensham, Surrey and living with her husband (Thomas), two sons (Alfred and Edwin) and two daughters (Amy and Kate) at Pitch Place, Elstead, Surrey.

In the 1881 census as Anne (sic) Luff aged 65, born in Frensam, Surrey and living with her husband (Thomas), son (Edwin) and daughter (Amy) at New House, Elstead, Surrey. The New House is between Pitch Place and Houndown, and Pitch Place is on the border of Elstead, Thursley and Churt.

Entry in FreeBMD for the death of Ann Luff in July-September 1890 in Hambledon (2a 71) which included Elstead and Thursley.

The first three children were christened at Frensham, the rest in Thursley so I assume they moved to Pitch Place between 1843 and 1845.

Relationship

Ann Croucher was my half great grandaunt.
