In the 1841 census as Valentine Adams aged 41 (rounded down to a multiple of 5!), born in Norfolk, employed as an agricultural labourer, and living with Elizabeth (wife?) by the church, Topcroft, Norfolk.
In the 1851 census as Valentine Adams aged 55, born in Hempnall, Norfolk, employed as an agricultural labourer, and living with his wife (Elizabeth) in Topcroft.
His wife died in 1857.
In the 1861 census as Valentine Adams aged 69, born in Hempnall, widowed, employed as a governess in index, groom on the original, and living with Charles Kerrison (aged 60, born in Kirstead, Norfolk, unmarried and a landed proprietor), his sister (Mary Kerrison aged 38, born in Kirstead, Norfolk and single), two visitors (Julia Kerrison aged 37, born in Woodbastwick, Norfolk and Mary Anna Kerrison aged 35 born in Plumstead, Norfolk, both cousins, single and no stated employment) and three servants (Joshu Clarke aged 14, born in Brooke, Norfolk, and a page, Martha Drewell aged 25, born in Lowestoft, Suffolk and a domestic cook, and Mary A Marchall aged 21, born in Topcroft, and a house servant) in Kirstead, Norfolk.
I cannot find an entry in the 1871 census.
Death of Valentine Adams in FreeBMD in January-March 1873 aged 81 in Loddon (4b 147) - birth calculated from this entry.
His wife was 41 and born in Norfolk in the 1841 census, and 54 and born in Neatishead, Norfolk in the 1851 census, and died in October-December 1857 in Loddon (4b 188) according to FreeBMD.
Hempnall and Topcroft are two miles apart and in the Loddon district, and some 12 miles south of Norwich. Neatisehead is 12 miles NE of Norwich between A1151 and Barton Broad.
Valentine Adams was my second great granduncle.
