Her younger brother Jessie was born in Jackson County, Mississippi in 1891 so the family moved there soon after her birth.

Her mother is believed to have left before the 1900 census.

In the 1900 census as Margret S Adams aged 11 and living with Jesse (father?), Joseph R (brother?), Jessie W (brother?) and Martha (sisters?) in Jackson County, Mississippi.

In the 1910 census as Margret Adams aged 18, and living with Jessie A (father?), Jessie W and Joe R (brother?) and Emma (sister?) in George County, Mississippi.

There is an entry on Internment Records Online for Margaret Adams born 13 October 1888 and died 10 September 1943 with the following information on the Shady Grove Cemetery:

"This cemetery is located on the left hand side of highway 26 about 4.3 of a mile west of Lucedale, Mississippi. This cemetery is owned and maintained by the Shady Grove Baptist Church, which is across highway from the cemetery, which is in good condition. The cemetery is surrounded by a chain link fence on all sides, and has a large American Flag Display in the center. All information was gathered from headstone inscriptions when I walked this cemetery on Apr 16, 2007. - James Trussell"
