It is not clear what happened regarding her mother who died 1942, but her father married Melissa Davis in 1883.

In the 1900 census as Lula Raneger aged 24 and living in Jackson County, Mississippi.

In the 1910 census as Lula J Ranager aged 28, and living with Joe W aged 39 (husband?) and Lillie B aged 8, Elizabeth aged 5m, Ruby M aged 4 and Joseph W aged 1 (children?) in George County, Mississippi.

In the 1920 census as Lula J Kreager aged 42 and living with Joseph W aged 48 (husband?) in George County, Mississippi.

In the 1930 census as Lella Ranager aged 52 and living with Joe W aged 59 (husband?) in George County, Mississippi

There is an entry on Internment Records Online for Lula A Ranager born 8 January 1874 died 29 October 1957 with the following information on the Shady Grove Cemetery:

"This cemetery is located on the left hand side of highway 26 about 4.3 of a mile west of Lucedale, Mississippi. This cemetery is owned and maintained by the Shady Grove Baptist Church, which is across highway from the cemetery, which is in good condition. The cemetery is surrounded by a chain link fence on all sides, and has a large American Flag Display in the center. All information was gathered from headstone inscriptions when I walked this cemetery on Apr 16, 2007. - James Trussell"

There are two entries in RootsWeb WorldConnect for Lula Jane Adams born 8 January 1874 in Jackson County, parents Jesse A Adams and Jane Mizell, her marriage to Joseph Wesley Ranager, and seven children, and her death on 29 October 1957 and burial in Shady Grove Cemetery, George County, Mississippi. Another entry adds that her death was in Lucedale, and her burial was on 30 October 1957, but gives her husband as James Madison Spencer and the marriage in 1888 - see below.

There are six entries in Ancestry Public Member Trees for Lula Jane Adams born born 8 January 1874 in Jackson County, parents Jesse A Adams and Jane Mizell, her marriage to Joseph Wesley Ranager on 13 November 1899 (one gives 25 September 1899) in Lucedale, George, Missippi, her residence in Northeast Jackson (one gives Cherry Level, Neshoba) in 1900 and Beat 4 George in 1910 and 1920, and seven children, and her death on 29 October 1957 and burial in Shady Grove Cemetery, George County, Mississippi. One entry contains the following story:

On June 30, 1966, Ida Howell Young visited Joseph Adams, who was a patient in George County Hospital at the time. Joseph was half brother to Lula Jane Adams Ranager. Their father was Jesse Adams, brother of Betsy Childress. He didn't know what had happened to Jesse's first wife. And his second wife, Melissa Davis, left him with small children. The family lived below Thad Childress' house in what Uncle Joe called "the camp". Uncle Joe said, "Lula came and took care of us until we could manage alone. Then she went bck to live with Uncle Thad and Aunt Betsy. Soon afterwards, she married Joe Ranager. There is also an entry for her marriage to James Madison Spencer. There is a submitted entry in the IGI for a Lula Jane Adams born 3 January 1874 in South Caroline who married James Madison Spencer in 1888 and who died 21 January 1957, and three entries in the Pedigree Resource File which give her birth, parents, death and burial as above, but her marriage to James Madison Spencer and this is the cause of the confusion.

There is an entry in the Mizell Genealogy for Lula Jane Adams born 29 July 1871 and died 21 November 1949 who married Joseph Wesley Ranager (note these are in fact the dates for her husband).

There is an entry in Evermore Genealogies for Lula Jane Adams born 8 January 1874 in Jackson County, Mississippi, parents Jesse A Adams and Jane Mizell, married Joseph Wesley Ranager (Reneger, Renegar, Ranagier), and died 29 October 1957 and buried in Shady Grove, George County, Mississippi.
