Her father died very soon after her christening.

In the 1881 census as Jemima S Adams aged 4, born in Banham, Norfolk, and living with her widowed mother (Mary), four sisters (Adelaide M, Anna S, Emma J and Lucy) and her widowed grandfather (James Mallows) at Hardwick Green, Banham, Norfolk (It states The Old Chequers in the index but I cannot find where this came from).

In the 1891 census as Jemima E Adams aged 13, born in Banham, Norfolk, and living with her widowed mother (Mary), sister (Anna E), a (half)sister? (Rose E), her widowed grandfather (James Mallows) and uncle (Robert Claxton aged 27, born in Campden Town, Middlesex, single and an agricultual labourer/bailiff) at The Chequers Farm, Hardwick Green, Banham, Norfolk.

In the 1901 census as Jemima Adams aged 22, born in Banham, Norfolk, single, an under housemaid and living with Mary Price (a correction gives her surname as Rugge-Price , the Rugge was added by Royal Lic. in 1874, according to Debrett's peerage, 1990, aged 92, born in Broadstairs, Kent, widowed, and living on her own means), her two daughters (Alice Price aged 56, and born in St Brides Parish End, London and Catherine Price aged 61, born in London, both single and living on their own means), an upper housemaid (Lucy Adams - Jemima's sister), two hospital nurses (Ada Collowine aged 38, born in Sheffield, Yorkshire and widowed, and Jennette Totman aged 29, born in St Pancras, London and single), a butler (James Lane aged 39, born in Bowness, Buckinghamshire and single), a cook (Elizabeth Linnell aged 48, born in Struckbridge, Warwickshire and single), and a page (Joseph Stick aged 16 and born in Tefton, Devon), at 54 Ennismore Gardens, St John the Evangelist and St Margaret, Westminster, London. (This refers to the Price Baronetcy of Spring Grove in Richmond in the County of Surrey - the fifth Baronet, Sir Arthur James Rugge-Price (1808-1892) and Mary's husband assumed the additional surname of Rugge in 1874 by Royal license).
