Notes

Birth of Anna Elizabeth Adams in FreeBMD in October-December 1870 in Guiltcross (4b 227).

In the 1871 census as Anna S Adams aged 6 months, born in Banham, Norfolk, and living with her parents (William and Mary), and sister (Lucy) at Snailgate Street, Banham, Norfolk.

Her father died in 1877.

In the 1881 census as Anna S Adams aged 10, born in Banham, Norfolk, and living with her widowed mother (Mary), four sisters (Adelaide M, Emma J, Jemima S and Lucy) and her widowed grandfather (James Mallows) at Hardwick Green, Banham, Norfolk (It states The Old Chequers in the index but I cannot find where this came from).

In the 1891 census as Anna E Adams aged 20, born in Banham, Norfolk, single, a farmers daughter crossed out and replaced by domestic, and living with her widowed mother (Mary), sister (Jemima E), a (half)sister? (Rose E), her widowed grandfather (James Mallows) and uncle (Robert Claxton aged 27, born in Campden Town, Middlesex, single and an agricultual labourer/bailiff) at The Chequers Farm, Hardwick Green, Banham, Norfolk.

In the 1901 census as Anna E Adams aged 30, single, no stated employment and living with her cousins (Walter Clark aged 44, born in Loxley, Warwickshire and a blacksmith, and Betsy Clark aged 47 and born in Illington, Norfolk), their son (Maurice J aged 9 and born in Hampton Lucy, Warwickshire), two daughters (Edie R Clark aged 21, married with no stated employment, and Susan aged 18, single and a domestic housemaid, both born in Hampton Lucy), granddaughter (Eva V aged 2 and born in Oxfordshire) and cousin (Ernest T aged 21, born in Oxfordshire, single and a soldier in the mounted infrantry) at Church Street, Hampton Lucy, Warwickshire. Although cousins, I have traced back their famlies and can find no relationship - Betsy was the daughter of John Lambert and Rose Lanchester born about 1819 in Harling, Norfolk. However Anna's great grandmother Sarah Edwards came from East Harling so that may be the connection.

Banham is 18 miles SW of Norwich. Hampton Lucy is some 2 miles NE of Stratford-upon-Avon.

Relationship

Anna Elizabeth Adams was my third cousin once removed.
