Notes

Birth of Adelaide Mary Adams in FreeBMD in October-December 1874 in Guiltcross (4b 233).

Christening of Adelaida Mary Adams in the IGI on 11 October 1874 in Banham, Norfolk, parents William and Mary Adams (her older sister Emma Jane was christened on the same day).

Her father died in 1877.

In the 1881 census as Adelaide M Adams aged 6, born in Banham, Norfolk, and living with her widowed mother (Mary), four sisters (Anna S, Emma J, Jemima S, and Lucy) and her widowed grandfather (James Mallows) at Hardwick Green, Banham, Norfolk (It states The Old Chequers in the index but I cannot find where this came from).

In the 1891 census as Mary Adams aged 13 (in the index but corrected to 15 on the orginal), born in Banham, Norfolk, a general domestic servant, and living with Robert Self (aged 67, born in Bridgham, Norfolk and a licensed victualler)) and his wife (Mary aged 50 and born in Rockland All Saints, Norfolk) at The Railway Tavern, Railway Road, Attleborough, Norfolk.

In the 1901 census as Mary Adams aged 25 (27 crossed out on the original), born in Banham, Norfolk, single, a kitchen maid and living with Henry Viles (aged 50, born in Freshford, Somerset and a butler - there is no head of household so I assume this address was for servants of one of the nearby gentry) and six other servants (two footmen, housekeeper, two housemaids, and a scullery maid) at 5 Sussex Square, Paddington St John, London.

Banham is 18 miles SW of Norwich.
