Birth of Hilda Constance Wethered in FreeBMD in October-December 1901 in Epsom (2a 14). Although the family lived at The Vicarage, Kingswood, this was in Reigate, not Epsom.

Her brother was born in Reigate in 1903.

In the 1911 census as Hilda Constance Wetherhed aged 9, born in Kingswood, Surrey and living with her parents (Arthur James and Sydney Alice), brother (Cantney Harold), sister (Frances Alice), a governess (Dorothy Howden aged 24, born in Hoylake, Cheshire and single), and a cook (Elizabeth Dighton aged 24 and born in Godmanchester, Huntingdonshire, and single), and a palourmaid (Fanny Weyland aged 22, born in Kingswood, Surrey and single) in ten rooms at Kingswood Vicarage, Epsom, Surrey.

Entry in Ancestry UK Incoming Passenger Lists, 1878-1960 for Hilda Wethered aged 28 of Kingswood Vicarage, Tadworth, Surrey arriving at Bristol on 2 March 1930 on the Carare (Elders & Fyffes Line) departed from Barbados, Caribbean. The previous entry is for Arthur James Wethered (father?), aged 68, and a clerk in Holy Orders and of the same address.

Her son and daughter were born in Barnet in 1932 and 1935.

The papers were issued to Dr Luke's grandmother, Sydney Alice Wethered, and mother, Hilda, during and after World War I.

Introduction
Sydney Alice was married to the vicar of Kingswood, the Rev Arthur James Wethered, MA. At the time of the issue of the ration card to Hilda Wethered in 1920, she was an undergraduate at Cambridge University.

Series information for this collection
Series: 4201/ - National Registration Scope: The National Registration Act, 1915 (5 & 6 Geo 5, ch 60) provided for the compilation of a National Register of all persons between the ages of 15 and 65, except those in the naval or regular or territorial forces. The local authority was responsible for the compilation and maintenance of the register, which involved the completion of a form including details such as name, place of residence, age, marital status, number of dependents, occupation, employer's details and nationality. Registered persons were then issued with a certificate. The Act was to remain in force throughout the duration of the war.

Rationing was introduced in February 1918 to combat the food shortages which resulted from poor distribution. It was halted in 1921.

The card contains spaces for the stamps of meat (crossed through), butter and sugar retailers and is stamped by two traders, one of whom appears to be Headley Jersey of Tadworth. There is no entry for this name in the trade section for Kingswood in Kelly's Directory for 1915 or 1922. The other stamp is not decipherable
