In the 1861 census as John Croucher aged 64, born in Yarmouth, Hampshire, a retired mariner, and living with his wife (Sarah) and granddaughter (Emily Croucher) at 7 Pyle, Street, Newport, Hampshire (shared with another family).

I cannot find any more information - his wife was born in St Lawrence, Hampshire in about 1802 from the 1861 and 1871 censuses. His granddaughter could be Augusta Emily born April-June 1849 (8 245) or Amelia born January-March 1849 (8 253) - the latter is the daughter of James and Jane from the 1851 census and James was born about 1808 so this is doubtful. His wife is in the 1871 census as Sarah Croucher aged 69, born at St Lawrence, Isle of Wight, widowed, and the owner of 7 Pyle, Street, Newport, Hampshire where another family was also living. His wife died in April-June 1880 in I Wight (2b 355).
