His mother died in Wandsworth in 1885.
In the 1891 census as Leslie D Seward aged 10, born in Harling (sic), Sussex, and living with his widowed father (George H), and two sisters (Edith M and Flora M) in at 18 Hamilton Terrace, Twickenham, Middlesex.
In the 1901 census as Leslie A Seward aged 19, born in Diss (sic - on the original), Norfolk (sic -Hants has been changed to Norfolk on the original), single, a clerk on the London Joint Stock Board and living with Bessie Jepson (aged 28, born in Dartford, Kent, single, and living on her own means - first cousin of Flora's future husband), a servant/companion (Flora A Seward - his sister) and two other servants (Elizabeth Clark aged 20 and born in St Ives, Huntingdonshire, and Isabel S Wilks aged 28 and born in Newent, Gloucestershire, both single) at 58 Cheniston Gardens, Kensington, London.
Douglas Leslie Seward was my seventh cousin once removed.
