In the 1881 census as Laura Croucher aged 15, born in Cosham, no stated employment and living with her widowed mother (Maria) and sister (Rose) at 10 Victoria Terrace, Widley, Hampshire.
In the 1891 census as Saura (sic - in the index, Laura on the original) Croucher aged 24, born in Cotham (sic), Hampshire, single, and living with her widowed mother (Maria) and three sisters daughters (Clara, Maria, and Rosa) and nephew (Henry C Sansom, son of Eliza) at Castle Strret, Portchester, Hampshire.
Her mother died in Fareham in 1899.

This must have been a school run from the home of Mary and Bettie Hurss or Hurst, with three other governesses and two boys and ten girls as boarders plus a servant.
