In the 1891 census as James R Keir aged 9, born in Hammersmith, London, and living with his parents (James J and Jane E), brother (Thomas H) at at 107 Brackenbury Road, Hammersmith St John, London (off A402 Goldhawk Road).
In the 1901 census as James Keir aged 21, born in Spitalsfield (sic), London, single, employed as a sub-editor of a journal, and living with his parents (James and Jane), brother (Thomas), sister (Mabel), cousin (Eleanor Page aged 12 and born in Germany), and a servant (Mabel Root aged 16 and born in Sheerness, Kent) at 107 Brackenbury Road, Hammersmith St John, London.
