Christening of John Crovcher in the IGI on 16 May 1654 in Eastdean Near Chichester, Sussex, father Thomas Crovcher.

Entry in Sussex Family History Group Sussex Marriage Index for the marriage of John Croucher of East Dean and Ann Beale at S.Oeter the Great Chich, on 12 June 1676 by licence.

All the children were christened at Saint Peter The Great Or Subdeanery Of Chichester, Chichester except for Henry at St Andrew, but only the fathers's name (Croucher or Crowcher) is given except for Ann, Williams and John where the mother is given as Ann. The last child is unnamed.

There is an entry in FamilyHistoryOnline Sussex Burials for Ann Croucher on 10 February 1714 at Chichester St.Peter the Great (a note states that it only occurs in the Bishops Transcripts).

The position of the font of Saint Peter Subdeanery is marked by a stone in floor of the north transept of Chichester Catherdral, the altar of St Peter being that of the parish, and not to be confused with St. Peter Subdeanery, on the north side of West Street, which was consecrated in 1852, when the parishioners ceased to have rights at the altar of St. Peter in the cathedral, nor with St Peter the Less, St Peter in the Market or St Peter Sub Castro. From: Chichester: Advowsons, A History of the County of Sussex: Volume 3 (1935), pp. 164-66.

Relationship

John Croucher was the son of Thomas Croucher.
