His son John was christened in Rye in 1816, but married in Adelaide in 1839 so I assume the family emigrated between these dates.
David William has an entry in Ancestry Public Member Trees for John Croucher born on 6 January 1788, parents William and Ann Croucher (these were his grandparents not parents), his marriage to Sarah Ditten, a son, and his death in 1872 (on the 19th but no month) in Kensington, South Australia. K P Kirby has a similar entry but giving his birth on 1 February 1788 and no parents while K Wood gives his birth on 2 January 1788 and again no parents.
There is a reference in the Hamilton Family History regarding the free passage on the Katherine Stewert Forbes in 1837 "John Croucher, aged 21, a plumber and carpenter, applied for passage on the same day as John Hamilton. The passenger list also mames John Croucher, a constable and tallow chandler, and Sarah Croucher. They were possibly young John Croucher's parents.
Kensington is some 400 miles WNW of Melbourne.
