Entry in the West Surrey Family History Society Surrey Marrage Index for James Croucher and Ann ? by banns on 29 May 1827 at St Martin, Dorking, both of this parish.

In the 1841 census as James Croucher aged 30 (rounded down to a multiple of 5), no stated employment, and living with Ann (wife? aged 30 and not born in Surrey) and Thomas (son?) at Stone Bridge, Holmwood, Dorking, Surrey.

In the 1851 census as James Croucher aged 44, born in Dorking, Surrey, employed as an agricultural labourer and living with his wife (Ann aged 46 and born in Fletching, Sussex), son (Daniel - I believe this was his nephew, son of Richard Croucher and Susannah Smith) and a lodger (William Etherington aged 27, born in Dorking, unmarried and employed as an agricultural labourer) at Stone Bridge, Holmwood, Dorking. His son Thomas and family were living next door.

In the 1861 census as James Croucher aged 57, born in Dorking, employed as a brick maker and agricultural labourer, and living with his wife (Ann aged 53 and born in Fetching, Sussex) and granddaughter (Ann) at Stubs Farm, Flint Hill (now A2003), Holmwood, Dorking.

In the 1871 census as James Croucher aged 65, born in Dorking, employed as a farm servant, and living with his wife (Ann aged 66, born in Maresfield, Sussex and employed as a domestic servant) and his granddaughter (Sarah) at Goodwin's Farm, Flint Hill, Holmwood, Dorking (his son and family were living close by at Stub's Farm).

In the 1881 census as James Croucher aged 76, born in Dorking, no stated employment and living with his wife (Ann aged 77 and born in Fetching, Sussex) in Hampstead Road, Dorking (this address shared with another family).

Lynda Elson has an entry in RootsWeb WorldConnect for James Croucher born 1 September 1806, baptised 19 September 1806, parents Thomas Croucher and Sarah Smith, his marriage in about 1837 to Ann born 1807 in Fletching, Sussex, a son Daniel (which I believe to be incorrect and no mention of Thomas), the 1851 and 1861 census entries, and his burial on 15 Apr 1883 in Dorking, Surrey.
