His brother was baptised on 6 June 1833 at All Saints, Crondall when theyy were living in Crookham.
In the 1841 census as James Croucher, aged 14 , not born in Surrey, and living with James and Marther (parents?), Charles, John, and William (brothers?), and Ann, Jane, Marcy and Marther sisters?) at Stream (between Ridgeway and Highcombe Bottom), Pitch Place, Elstead, Surrey.
In the 1851 census as James Croucher aged 23, born in Crookham, unmarried, employed as an agricultural labourer, and living with his unmarried (sic) mother (Martha), brother (Charles), and four sisters (Jane, Jane, Mary and Sarah) at The Street, Condall, Hampshire. (There are two Janes - one is obviously a mistake, but I have not identified who it is refering to).
