It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Hilda Norma Woods (née Croucher) at her home on High Falls Road in Bracebridge, on September 17, 2004 at the age of 90.Wife of the late Arthur Woods, and mother of Russell of Kenora (Suzanne), Catharine of Ajax (John), Elaine of Don Mills, Verna of Oshawa (Wayne), and Norma of Bracebridge (Wade).
Grandmother of Scott, Terry, Mark, John and Amanda. Great-grandmother of Matthew, Andrew, Christian and Erica.
Predeceased by her sisters Alfreda, Loretta, Ruth, Jean, and her brother Victor Croucher.
Hilda was born on August 5, 1914 at Craigie Lee on Lake Joseph.
During WWII she worked at De Havilland as a riveter. After the war Hilda and her husband Arthur lived in Minett. She moved to Bracebridge in 1963 and lived in her home until December of 2003, when she moved to her new home, with her daughter.
Hilda loved crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, Jeopardy and she also loved to play cards. She was a 52-year member of Lake Land Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She held several offices and was Worthy Matron of her Chapter in the "Anchor Year", 1975-76. She was an active member until shortly before her death.
Hilda always had a smile and an encouraging word for everyone. Her wonderful sense of humour, compassion and love for her family will always be remembered by everyone who knew her.
