In the 1861 census as William Croucher aged 34, born in Gillingham, Kent, single, a carpenter, and boarding with Allan Croucher (I assume his brother), his wife (Mary), son (Alfred), and widowed mother (Mary).
In the 1871 census as Frederick W Crouch (sic - on the original) aged 45, single, a labourer , and living with his brother (Alban S Crouch), his wife (Mary A), and five children (Alban S, Charles H, Frederick W, Ada M and Ellen S) at Chatham Hill, Chatham, Kent.

Frederick William Croucher was the great granduncle of David Reginald Croucher, husband of Patricia Ann Ashford, my half third cousin once removed.
