In the 1901 census as Emily Croucher aged 20, born in Brighton, unmarried, and a servant (washer) at a hotel at 13 Marlboro Road, West Brighton Sussex run by Thomas H Bonner (aged 55 and born in Clapham, Surrey), his wife (Rosa J aged 44 and born in London), their three sons (Frank aged 11, George aged 8 and John aged 12) and two daughters (Lily aged 14 and Rose aged 19), There were three visitors and some six other servants.
