Ripley is just north of Sopley, and three miles north of Christchurch. Christchurch was in Hampshire until 1974. East Buckland is some 5 miles north of South Molton on the other side of the A361.

There are three possible submitted entries for her christening in the IGI - Hannah Cook on 28 July 1833 in Mells, parents Samuel and Janet Cook, Ann Cook on 23 July 1834 in St Cuthbert, Wells, parents Thomas and Margaret Cook,and Ann Cook on 3 July 1834 in St Cuthbert, Wells, parents Thomas and Mary Cook. There is an entry in FreeBMD for the death of Hannah Croucher in April-June 1913 aged 79 in South Molton.
