Notes

There is an entry in the Pedigree Resource File for Amelia Jane Croucher born 1841 at Iddesleigh (Obviously wrong as Iddesleigh is in Devon!) St Hilary (sic), Jersey, Channel Islands, father James Croucher, and her marriage to William Frederick Loxton (I am not sure that this is the correct William Loxton), and living at 166 East Wells in 1861, 2 Southover, Wells in 1871, 8a Union Street, Wells in 1881 and 154 St Thomas St, Wells in 1901 (I cannot find this 1901 entry and believe it is incorrect).

In the 1841 census as Amelia Croutcher (on original) aged 3 months, born in Jersey, Channel Islands, and living with James (father?), Mary (mother) and Louisa (sister?) in Charles Street, St. Helier, Jersey.

In the 1851 census as Amelia Croucher aged 10, born in St Heller (sic - in the index), Jersey, Channel Islands, and living with her parents (James and Mary), two brothers (Thomas and William), and three sisters (Ann, Louisa and Sarah) at 2 Williams Place, Walcot, Lansdown, Somerset.

In the 1861 census as Amelia J Croucher aged 20, born in Jersey, Channel Islands, no stated employment, and living with her parents (James and Mary), two brothers (Thomas and William J), and sister (Sarah A) in East Wells, Wells St Cuthbert Out, Somerset.

Marriage of Amelia Jane Croucher and William Loxton in FreeBMD in July-September 1865 in Wells, Somerset (5c 947).

In the 1871 census as Amelia Jane Loxton, aged 29, born in St Hilary (sic- in the index), Jersey, and living with her husband (William), son (Henry James) and daughter (Agnes Amelia) at 2 Southover, Wells, Somerset. There is another daughter Alice M Loxton living with Amelia's parents - if her age is correct she was born before the marriage.

In the 1881 census as Amelia J Loxton aged 40, born in Jersey, and living with her huband (William), three sons (Henry J, James E and William R), and five daughters (Ada K, Agnes A, Amelia J, Mary A, and Mary S,) at 8A Union Street, Wells St Cuthbert, Somerset. (Did Mary S really exist or is she a double entry for Mary A?)

In the 1891 census as Amelia Laxton (sic - on original as well as in the index), aged 49, born in St Helens (sic), Jersey, and living with her husband (William), three sons (Edgar, James and William), four daughters (Ada, Alice, Amelia J and Mary), grandson (Rege - I guess he was the son of Amelia), and two lodgers (Emma Drive aged 16 and Ethel William aged 12, both employed as paper workers) at Wookey Hole, St Cuthbert Out, Somerset.

Her husband died in 1894.

In the 1901 census as Amelia Loxton, aged 58, born in Iddesleigh (sic - in the index - this refers to the previous entry), Jersey, a widow, and living with her two sons (Edgar and James), two daughters (Ada K and Mary A), grandaughter (Amelia J - this is on the original but cannot be correct), and grandson (Reginald who I guess is Amelia's son) at 76 Thomas St., Wells St Cuthbert.

There is an entry in Ancestry Public Member Trees for Amelia Croucher born in about 1841 in St Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands, parents James Croucher and Mary Picot.
